Synopsis
Without any apparent reason, three friends embark on a random journey. Some would say it is about burning the last vestiges of youth while others may talk about the inevitable decadence of the male gender.
Either way, The Romantic Exiles touches on these topics and other equally profound themes during a journey that is both long and simultaneously short, in which Vito, Luis and Francesco face their romantic pasts with the sole mission of surprising themselves and continuing to feel alive.
Delicately observed and shot on the go, Spanish director Jonas Trueba fashions an honest ode to love, friendship, and a warm welcome to the summer of life.
