The Guest (2014) @ Glossop Cinema Club

Synopsis

Spencer (Leland Orser - Seven) and Laura Peterson (Shelia Kelley - The Good Doctor), with their children Luke (Brendan Mayer - Color Out Of Space) and Anna (Maika Monroe - Longlegs), are coping with the loss of their eldest son, Caleb, to the war in Afghanistan. They are visited by David Collins (Dan Stevens - Downton Abbey), a former U.S. Army sergeant who claims he was Caleb's best friend. He tells the family he wanted to visit them as a way to help Caleb take care of them. He is polite and friendly, and Laura invites him to stay as long as he wishes.

A darkly comedic psychological action-thriller, The Guest is written by Simon Barrett (You're Next) and directed by Adam Wingard (Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire) and it's the perfect way to kick start your Spooky Season as it's set during the run-up to Halloween.
