SOUL:CINÉ presents My Father’s Shadow (2025) + Short Film

Synopsis

Set in the pulsating heat of Lagos, during Nigeria’s tumultuous 1993 election. Akinola Davies Jr.'s BAFTA winning feature My Father’s Shadow is told through the eyes of siblings Akin and Remi, as they spend the day with their father Folarin (Sope Dirisu in a majestic form), and paints an absorbing and tender portrait of the bond between father and sons.

Weaving deep feelings, secrets, longing, and love, into its vibrant tapestry, the film resonates with textured hues, tastes, smells and sounds. Africa, and Africans, have rarely felt this nuanced on screen.
