Synopsis
Mississippi Masala (1991) Set in 1972 and 1990, Mississippi Masala (1991) is a tale of a Ugandan Indian family expelled from their home by the military dictator Idi Amin, interwoven with an interracial love story set against the backdrop of 90's Mississippi. It's sexy, it's gorgeous, it's emotional, it's fun, it's the basis for progressive NY mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani's (specious) nepo baby allegations! 🤪 We weren’t very familiar with Mira Nair’s extensive body of work before watching the NY election, and have been diving in - after watching this movie we knew we had to put it on the PEPCOT big screen.
Starring Sarita Choudhury and Denzel Washington, directed by Mira Nair.
Rated 15
