Synopsis
The year has also seen the loss of the great surrealist director, whose folksy characters and disturbing sound world make such queasy bedfellows. In this his darkest film he again adopts the highway as metaphor for liminal spaces (cf. Wild at Heart, The Straight Story). 134 minutes.
