Synopsis
Do the Right Thing (1989), directed by Spike Lee, is a gripping exploration of race, community, and moral conflict set in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood during the hottest day of the summer. The story follows Mookie, a young Black man delivering pizzas for Sal’s Pizzeria, as tensions simmer between the Italian-American owners and the predominantly Black residents. When a dispute over representation on Sal’s “Wall of Fame” escalates into violence, the neighborhood erupts in chaos, forcing everyone to face painful questions about justice, prejudice, and responsibility.
