Set in 1988, Blue Jean portrays the challenges faced by Jean, a PE teacher, as Thatcher's government prepares to pass a law stigmatizing gays and lesbians. Jean is forced to live a double life to protect her job. The arrival of a new student who threatens to expose her pushes Jean to extreme lengths to maintain her integrity.
Blue Jean is the acclaimed, multi-award-winning debut of writer/director Georgia Oakley. The film has received significant recognition, including a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut for Georgia Oakley and producer Hélène Sifre. In 2022, Blue Jean won four British Independent Film Awards.
