This highly acclaimed first film written and directed by Sophy Romvari blends fiction and memory following a young Hungarian immigrant girl Sasha and her family relocating to Vancouver Island in the 1990s, as their new life is disrupted by her older brother’s erratic and dangerous behaviour. The narrative unfolds in fragments, mirroring the haze and unreliability of a child’s memories, and then jumps to present day where Sasha, now a filmmaker revisits this formative trauma, to try and make sense of the impact it left on the family
