Dungannon Film Club (DFC) is a not-for-profit voluntary community organisation. Our aim is to bring people together in a relaxed and social environment to share great movies. Please do not let the word ‘club’ put you off – we are a community cinema which means we are not-for-profit and open to everyone; there is no membership required. All we do is show movies that we want to see on the big screen, so please come along and see if you like what we do.
We aspire to curate a wide selection of independent, foreign language and documentary films that do not get a general release in any of the multiplexes in Mid-Ulster. We hope to develop, expand and enhance the film culture in Dungannon and the surrounding area.
We also want to put film at the heart of community life by involving our local council, minority communities, other local organisations and the local education centres. By reaching out to these groups through film we believe DFC will create a sustainable audience for a more diverse range of cinema. We want to highlight the important role that film can play in reaching out to diverse communities, and we want to focus on the ability of film to create a richer awareness of the global stories of humanity. As a community organisation, we are keen to work with other local clubs and organisations. We have ambitions to bring a week-long Film Festival to Dungannon and to show more films outdoors, but we need your support to make this possible!
We show films most Wednesday nights in Ranfurly House Arts & Visitor Centre, Dungannon. Once a month we have an ‘event’ night where we try to add a little bit extra to the standard cinema experience (comedians, dressing-up, live music, complimentary food and drink, audience participation and outdoor events – just some of the features we have added to these nights).
We are still relatively ‘new kids on the block’ and hope that with your help and support we can continue to grow and increase the cultural experience of the Dungannon area.
