The Rex Cinema, Wareham
The Rex at Wareham has been showing films continuously seven nights a week since 1921. Since 2009 the cinema has been owned and operated by the Purbeck Film Charitable Trust, a not for profit charitable organisation that also runs the Purbeck Film Festival. We are in a Grade 2 Listed building and pride ourselves on maintaining the unique character of our small town cinema and the friendly welcome we provide to our patrons. We have upgraded to the latest digital projection and Dolby 7.1 sound system providing an excellent cinema experience. We have kept our 35mm projector for occasional special screenings. We have a bar and patrons are welcome to take their drinks into the auditorium. The cinema runs through the marvellous support of some 30 volunteers who turn out in all weathers to keep the movies on the screen.
