Screen B14

Screen B14 is a not-for-profit community cinema collective founded in Kings Heath. We are a group of filmmakers, composers, readers and curators who think our local area deserves the best access to global cinema. We gather to form relationships rooted in local action and creative community. We breathe independent, and it is vital that we encourage the flourishing of irreplaceable local businesses in everything that we do. We screen the best of new and classic films, run short film nights that stand against the habits of networking and transactional events, as well as experiment with live scores and unique spaces: cocktail bars; book shops; dumpling cafes; vintage clothes shops.

We provide those from lower-economic and underrepresented backgrounds with affordable and accessible cinema. We unite the local community around a shared love of film and storytelling, creating long-lasting relationships and encouraging creativity. We assist local creatives (specifically filmmakers) to exhibit their work and share ideas, as well as catalysing local independent and part-independent businesses by utilising them as host venues.

Compassion and connection are at the heart of what Screen B14 does. We provide affordable and accessible film screenings from around the world, with a diverse programme that pushes boundaries as far as financially viable. We provide a local exhibition space that champions the best of Midlands filmmaking. We support local businesses as our host venues, encouraging awareness and footfall for independents. We put on periodical charity fundraisers and take a radical and inclusive approach to ticketing. We socialise around film whenever we can.

Sliding-scale ticketing enables people to pay according to their circumstances. You adjust the price of our event to what is manageable, meaning that there are fewer barriers to watching great films.
