Glue Gun Presents: Messiah of Evil

27-05-2025 at 19:00

Certificate:

Synopsis

The only horror film made by writer/director team Gloria Katz and Willard Huyck, with production design by Joan Mocine (Badlands) and Jack Fisk (Mulholland Drive), Messiah of Evil is one of the most idiosyncratic and visually stunning American horror films of the 1970s, a waking nightmare of post-hippie pessimism and neon California Gothic.

In search of her missing father, Arletty travels to the eerie seaside town of Point Dune. Local legend says that one hundred years ago the townsfolk were driven into a frenzy of madness and cannibalism by a mysterious ‘Dark Stranger’. Then he vanished, walking into the ocean with the promise that he would return with the coming of the blood moon.

Brilliantly captures a lightning essence of horror that no other ever bothered to bottle: the horror of neon by night, of 24-hour gas stations and grocery stores, of muzak that sounds as if it's played by long-dead musicians.” - Tim Lucas, Sight & Sound

Glue Gun Presents: Carnival of Souls

Synopsis

After barely escaping a horrific car accident that claimed the lives of her two companions, Mary moves to Salt Lake City, hoping for a fresh start. But plagued by visions of a silent, menacing figure and feeling increasingly disconnected from reality, she begins to unravel. Is any of this really happening? And why is she inexorably drawn to the abandoned carnival on the shores of the Great Salt Lake?

An uncanny masterpiece of low-budget horror, Carnival of Souls' dreamlike atmosphere and dark Americana prefigure the work of directors like David Lynch.

“Watch Carnival of Souls and wonder about its influence on others. Think about Night of the Living Dead, Blue Velvet and Eraserhead.” - Michael J. Weldon, The Psychotronic Video Guide

Glue Gun Presents: Let's Scare Jessica to Death

Synopsis

Following her stay in a mental health facility, Jessica and her husband move to an isolated farmhouse in rural Connecticut in order to help her ‘get better.’ But their new life is threatened by the hostility of the locals and eerie rumours about their home’s former owners. Following a series of bizarre occurrences, Jessica fears that she may be losing her grip on reality.

Join us for a rare screening of this burnt out, post-hippie American gothic horror with a beautifully subtle central performance from Zohra Lampert.

“One of the most subtle masterpieces of ‘70s genre cinema.” - Kier-La Janisse, House of Psychotic Women

Glue Gun Presents: The Visitor

25-09-2025 at 18:30

Certificate:

Synopsis

From director “Michael J. Paradise” (not his real name), The Visitor is a beautiful and baffling sci-fi horror mash up of The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Posing as a kindly babysitter, mysterious cosmic entity Jerzy Colsowicz travels to Earth in search of foul mouthed eight year old Katy Collins, the only living descendant of the evil alien mutant Zatine. Their battle of wills may determine the fate of humanity, and even the universe!

Perhaps the best film to earn a 5.2 average rating on IMDb, The Visitor is what you get when you mix heavy handed Christian allegory with a total disregard for narrative coherence and hundreds of real pigeons.

“A genuinely stupefying experience…the Mount Everest of insane ‘70s Italian movies.” - Mondo Digital
