Synopsis

3pm Steamboat Bill Jr (U) Running time 1h10m (1928) + Short

Steamboat Bill, Jr. is a 1928 silent comedy film starring Buster Keaton. It features what is perhaps Keaton’s most famous stunt - an entire building facade falling all around him!

The film is an example of secondary motive of the first film society, "The Film Society", which was to provide audiences with fun, as well as political films. Animation and comedies from Keaton, Chaplin and Lubitch were incredibly popular - so successful that the group’s venue had to be changed from the 1,400 seater New Gallery in London to the Tivoli which could accommodate between 2,000-3,000 people.
