Cinema In The Dale, Bishopside & Bewerley Memorial Hall

The Bishopside & Bewerley Memorial Hall is a registered charity situated in the heart of Pateley Bridge. The Hall is an ideal venue for many types of events. The Hall was built in 1962 to remember the men who gave their lives in two World Wars. About the time the Hall was built the small cinema across the road was closed and demolished. After an interval of fifty years, we joined Cine Yorkshire (now Cine North) in 2012 and started showing films on a regular basis. Since then we have screened about 12 films a year and achieve a regular audience of over 100 people of all ages. We have a number of volunteers who are available to collect disabled and elderly people so that they can attend film shows. We have been recognized by the British Red Cross for our work in this area. Most of the audience come from within 5 miles of this rural community but a number come from further afield thanks to the Cine North publicity as well as our own press releases etc. One very popular feature of our screenings is the interval half way through the evening which allows people to socialise as well as taking refreshments and a leg stretch. We have further plans for working with Nidderdale Plus to use community transport to allow people without transport to attend our evening shows.
