Buxton Film

Until recently we were the only cinema in the busy town of Buxton. A small group of people interested in good films set up a film club with a donated projector and a room in a pub. We moved venue a couple of times until finally negotiating access to the newly established permanent cinema in the Arts Centre.

We screen once a week on a Monday night from Bluray or DCP and occasionally using our mobile kit in other venues in town.

About 8 years later we are stronger than ever with increasing audiences, screening at least one film a week, a Film Festival annually in March/April and a special screening during the Buxton Festival Fringe in July.

Our programme is drawn from the best recent independent and foreign language films as well as the occasional classic and a family film now and again.

We have regular use of a studio theatre (capacity 90) courtesy of Buxton Opera House where we have installed our own high spec projector and surround sound system. We screen from Bluray discs.
