Present Laughter
by Noël Coward
The multi award-winning production of Noël Coward’s provocative comedy featuring Andrew Scott (Vanya, Fleabag) returns to the big screen.
As he prepares to embark on an overseas tour, star actor Garry Essendine’s colourful life is in danger of spiralling out of control. Engulfed by an escalating identity crisis as his many and various relationships compete for his attention, Garry’s few remaining days at home are a chaotic whirlwind of love, sex, panic and soul-searching.
Filmed live from The Old Vic in London during a sold out run in 2019, Matthew Warchus (Matilda The Musical) directs this giddy and surprisingly modern reflection on fame, desire and loneliness.
★★★★★ ‘Andrew Scott’s revelatory performance shows why Noël Coward is hailed a genius’ Telegraph
★★★★★ ‘Andrew Scott is wondrous in this revelatory refresh of Noël Coward’s classic comedy’ Time Out
★★★★★ ‘The show belongs to Scott’ The Times
★★★★★ ‘illuminating and luminously funny’ WhatsOnStage

The Mountain / La Montagne
27-11-2024 at 14:30

Certificate:
Synopsis
Pierre, a Parisian engineer, goes up in the Alps for his work. Irresistibly attracted by what surrounds him, he camps out alone high in the mountains and leaves behind his everyday life. Up there he meets Léa, a chef of an alpine restaurant, while mysterious glows glitter in the deep mountain.
Set almost entirely on the snowy peaks and rock faces of the Mont Blanc massif above the town of Chamonix, this is ostensibly the story of a mild-mannered Paris-based French engineer sent on a job in the Alps who, apparently on a whim then quits his employment, pitches his tent
amidst the glaciers, and feels no desire to return to civilisation. Stunning Alpine photography sets the background for a delicate love story nestling at the heart of the film. Director Thomas Salvador also gives a muted performance of a man (Pierre) who is attempting to lose himself in his surroundings.
Screened as part of the French Film Festival 2024.
In French with English subtitles

Synopsis
Kalisha Amaris, Georgia Bradshaw, Choolwe Laina Muntanga and Danielle Steers will star as “The Joplinaires” in the Tony Award nominated hit A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN – THE MUSICAL.
This multi award-winning show captured recently at the Sadler’s Wells Peacock Theatre is an extraordinary musical journey paying homage to Janis Joplin and her biggest musical influences.
