Borscht Film Club

Borscht Film Club is a community-driven initiative showcasing Polish cinema in Glasgow and Edinburgh. We present a diverse selection of films, from classic masterpieces to contemporary premieres, including children’s films, independent productions, and documentaries. Our mission is to foster cultural exchange, meaningful discussions, and creative collaborations through film.

Each screening includes a Q&A session, currently held online, allowing audiences to engage directly with filmmakers and experts. We are proudly supported by Film Hub Scotland and the Polish Consulate of Republic of Poland in Edinburgh, which enables us to promote Polish cinema and expand our reach.

Our screenings are presented in Polish, which is particularly valuable for Polish-speaking audiences and also for the many viewers who are learning Polish. This creates a unique opportunity for language immersion, helping learners develop their understanding of the language in an engaging cultural context. Each screening is presented with Englisg subtitles.

We deeply value collaboration and have worked with Samizdat Eastern European FF, Glasgow Women’s Library, Glasgow Doors Open Door Festival, Scottish Documentary Institute and many others.

Our screenings have been hosted in exceptional venues, including Pyramid at Anderston, Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre, CCA, Cameo, and Southside Community Centre in Edinburgh. Each of these locations has provided a unique setting for immersive film experiences and engaging discussions, enhancing the cultural and community-driven aspect of our events. All venues are wheelchair accessible.

Our screenings take place once a month, with a summer break.

Borscht Film Club was founded by three migrant women after participating in the Launchpad program offered by Cinema For All.
